Candied Orange & Chocolate Panforte (wheel)

Panforte 

A speciality of Siena, this is my take on the traditional Italian dessert. Somewhere between candy and cake, it literally translates as spiced bread although panpepata (spiced fruit cake) would be more accurate.

Shaped and baked in a wheel which weighs about 320g - your panforte is wrapped in cellophane with a slice of candied orange peel, and last for at least 4 months (if you can keep yourself from slicing more).

• Best enjoyed thinly sliced as dessert or treat 
• Pairs exceptionally well with cheese and wine
